About Us
Community Health Resource Center, Inc. (CHRC), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization,
was established in July 1999, by Carol Pitts, RN,BSN.
The nonprofit’s inception was greatly influenced from this organization’s president and her early life in rural Louisiana and additionally affected by lower income urban areas of the inner-city, while working as a community nurse. While serving in the heart of these communities, allowed first-hand observation, the multiple needs and despair that affect our target client population. Noticeable disparities were identified by her and the need to develop programs
and resources became an ambitious desire. CHRC came to fruition
as a solution to this socio-economic crisis.
CHRC recognized that this crisis impacted low-income communities in and around Houston
at a larger scale. Previously, we had begun providing services in Greensburg, LA, St. Helena
and the Florida parishes, so the multi-state mission launched with great promise
and hope for its citizens.
Since its founding, CHRC has provided health education and disease management
for Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension and HIV/AIDS awareness. Case management
for children with special health care needs, high-risk pregnant teens and women
and provisional resources to the elderly are provided.
Currently, CHRC has acquired ADA accessible vans, to provide non-emergency
medical transportation in Houston, TX and working to offer a similar
and more holistic service, to meet the needs of the families in the city of
Greensburg, LA and the Florida parishes. CHRC would like to facilitate the
development of this idea through corporate and foundation funding,
and volunteerism from the residents of these communities.
Our Team
We are a dedicated group of individuals who's equally focused
on accomplishing our mission's goals, while seamlessly
